Chef Kyle McDonald
Meet Kyle McDonald. Don’t let his last name fool you; Kyle is a Japanese trained chef.
Ever since childhood, Kyle had a great deal of fascination with his ancestral Japanese heritage, especially with both traditional and modern cuisines. However, his passion for cooking truly ignited in his high school’s “Home Ec.” class. The stereotypical easy-a class paved the way for Kyle to go to culinary school in 1998.
Graduating in 2002, Kyle then traveled to Japan to study and became enchanted by the quirky modern foods, like Bubble Tea (also known as Boba Tea), which is made of iced Japanese teas and tapioca balls. He decided to bring Bubble Tea back with him, but that wouldn’t be for another 10 years to perfect Japanese cuisines. While he was practicing, he was also consulting with business partners to open Tai Chi Bubble Tea.
In 2012, Kyle came home with a head-full of knowledge, a heart for passion, and a restaurant near-ready to open! Just in time for the Boba Tea craze, 2013 was the start of our amazing restaurant, filling our bellies with ramen, sushi, and of course, bubble tea!
